Algorithm design and machine learning engineer for funded startup in online retail apparel

SIZESEEKER is a funded technology startup helping online apparel retailers match customers to clothing that fits right the first time. We’re hiring a machine learning expert to help consumers find their size in online clothing and change the way people shop for clothes online. Responsibilities include:

• Designing and refining an algorithm to estimate consumer body measurements 
• Testing and improving accuracy and simplicity of the algorithm over time
• Rolling this into an API to be integrated into beta customers’ websites
• Actively participating in directing technology strategy and direction
• Contributing to a work environment that supports constant innovation, disrupts the fashion industry, and models the image and class of our luxury fashion customers
• Attending and networking at fashion and industry events

Using both inputs from consumers for height, weight, body shape as well as purchase history provided by retailers, you’ll be using rapid iteration to build an algorithm that matches users to their size in online clothing. These user inputs and retail data will be mapped to our database of parameterized 3D body scans.

Skills required include expertise in algorithm design, web programming, database management, and algorithm design. Comfort with machine learning, data mining, statistics, and computer graphics would all be major plusses. The ideal candidate also has passion for fashion and an eye for elegance.

We're a small, energetic company that is growing rapidly and disrupting an otherwise traditional industry. A successful candidate will thrive in an unstructured, early stage startup environment. We love the fashion customers that we serve and hope to find someone like-minded, who is excited about solving this industry problem and using this solution for their own frustrations while online shopping. Over the past year we’ve led the development of this algorithm and understand the complexity behind it; we are looking for a strong leader who can take ownership so we can go back to doing what we actually know how to do!

You’ll be working with a team of experienced entrepreneurs who have successfully raised funding and signed multimillion dollar customers in luxury fashion for our beta launch. We’re also a fun group of people, who among other endeavors have worked in music production, social venture capital, whitewater raft guiding, and even opening a club in the LES.

A successful candidate will be excited to help build a company from the ground up to capitalize on a market potential of over $10bn, in terms of the opportunity to reduce clothing returns alone.

We will pay market based compensation, with preference to engineers who are looking for an entrepreneurial package with an equity stake in the company. We’re also open to a short-term consulting period with the possibility of converting to full-time if you see you love what you’re working on.

About You:

You have at least a bachelor’s in computer science; a Master’s or PhD would be preferred. You’re also excited to work in a startup environment where creative problem solving and personal initiative are a key element of success.

You have work authorization in the U.S., and are ideally located in or around New York City or willing to make the flight on a regular basis.
